Job summary

Smiths Detection is seeking an advanced Technical Engineer for depot service support. The role performs complex troubleshooting and repair of electronic and mechanical equipment, designs test fixtures for QA, creates technical procedures, and trains technicians to ensure high-quality reworks and unit repairs.

The position involves collaboration with management on key projects, potential travel for new depot setups, and contributions to safety and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Technical degree or extensive electronics/mechanical experience.
• Strong electronics service experience required.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Create Test Fixtures to ensure full Quality Control of Reworked Parts.
• Diagnose and resolve electronic-related failures.
• Support technicians to resolve issues and identify best practices.
• Work with Schematics and Technical Drawings to produce Fixtures.
• Develop and write Technical Procedures for Fixture use.
• Maintain fixtures for proper function and correct as needed.
• Troubleshoot and repair NV parts for RW orders at the Depot.
• Lead the technical training of depot technicians.
• Identify replacement EOL components for Rework processes.
• Develop new service procedures for assemblies and components.
• Evolve service procedures emphasizing Quality Control.
• Complete all data entry and documentation for service.
• Maintain accurate Service Inventory and collaborate with team.
• Data Entry into Service Management System.
• Track Rework Cycles and quality issues.
• Support safety practices and report issues.
• Possibly participate in cost savings or process improvements.
• May support Technical Set Up Projects in new depots requiring travel.
