Job summary

Shermco Industries seeks an experienced NETA Field Service Technician, Senior, to travel to industrial and commercial customer sites for testing, troubleshooting, and data collection on high‑voltage electrical systems. The role requires 5+ years of switchgear testing experience, NETA certification (or equivalent), and strong PC skills with Excel.

Eligible candidates must be able to travel domestically with overnight stays, pass background and drug tests, and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in EPC or ABET‑accredited EE degree or military equivalent.
• NETA Certification III or IV preferred.
• 5+ years’ experience testing/troubleshooting switchgear.
• Strong PC skills: email, internet, data entry; Excel; travel readiness.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, start‑up and collect data on HV/MV electrical systems.
• Travel locally/regionally and for occasional overnight trips as needed.
• Perform instrument transformer tests and power transformer testing (Doble, TTR, insulation resistance, etc.).
• Test both electro‑mechanical and solid‑state relays; cable testing (Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot).
• Troubleshoot ATS, low/medium/high voltage switchgear and circuit breakers; calibrate relays and meters.
• Rotate emergency on‑call duty; respond to customer emergencies promptly.
• Adhere to safety procedures; pass background and drug tests; hold valid driver's license.
