Job summary

Rivian seeks an experienced Senior Field Service Technician to act as a technical expert and leader in supporting complex vehicle repairs and field operations. Based mainly at a service center, role may involve remote work, travel to remote sites, or plant rotations for advanced field support.

You will mentor junior technicians, drive continuous improvement, and tackle challenging diagnostics in a fast-paced environment while collaborating with customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
• Graduation from automotive repair school or vocational program preferred.
• Minimum age 21 years old.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (no suspensions/revocations in past 3–5 years).
• Ability to drive a non-commercial truck and trailer preferred.
• Flexible 40-hour workweek including weekends/holidays.
• Ability to travel to regional locations or production plants as needed.
• Proficient in Windows/Mac environments and work order systems.
• Physical ability to perform tasks (sitting, standing, lifting up to 50 lbs).
• State mechanic certifications where required by jurisdiction (e.g., Michigan).

Responsibilities

• Perform bumper-to-bumper diagnostics, complex repairs, installations, and inspections at service centers and field locations.
• Provide high-level diagnostic guidance to field teams and perform remote diagnostics or repairs from logged data.
• Coach, mentor, and train junior technicians and internal partners; lead problem-solving.
• Utilize diagnostic tools to resolve complex electrical, HV, and network faults.
• Conduct road tests to verify repair quality and drive standards across workflows.
• Oversee parts operations including ordering, receiving, inventory, and billing.
• Produce high-quality documentation and provide root-cause analysis to engineering teams.
• Interact with customers, suppliers, and internal teams during escalations or outreach events.
