Senior Field Service Technician – Electrical Systems

Job summary

IEM is seeking a Field Service Technician Level III to perform advanced start-up, commissioning, installation, testing, troubleshooting, service, and repair of IEM equipment. You will resolve complex technical issues, support critical customer engagements, and mentor Level I/II technicians in a fast-paced field environment.

The role requires independence, strong diagnostic skills, and collaboration with project managers, customers, and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Associate degree, vocational training, military experience, or equivalent in power distribution systems.
• 3+ years related electrical, mechanical, technical, manufacturing, construction, commissioning, or field service experience preferred.
• 2+ years of experience supporting switchgear start-up, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, or related field service activities preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical/mechanical issues in the field.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams, schematics, work instructions, and service documentation.
• Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform advanced start-up, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, service, and repair of IEM equipment.
• Install, modify, inspect, and support electrical or mechanical components and subassemblies.
• Lead or support complex field service activities for high-priority customer issues.
• Attend project meetings and coordinate with contractors, clients, PMs, Field Service leadership, and internal teams.
• Analyze system failures, identify root causes, and determine corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot electrical circuits, control wiring, networking equipment, and related field service issues.
• Coordinate with internal teams to resolve product, commissioning, or customer-reported issues in the field.
• Document service activities, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and follow-up items.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and on-the-job training to Level I/II technicians.
