Job summary

Veeco Instruments Inc. in Sugar Land, TX, is seeking a Field Service Engineer III to own the most complex challenges in the field, overseeing installations, upgrades, and escalations with strong autonomous ownership.

You will serve as the senior escalation point for system performance, reliability, and integration, collaborating across vacuum, electronics, and software domains. Travels domestically and internationally as required to support customers and product improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
• 8+ years in field service for semiconductor capital equipment.
• Vacuum-based systems experience in cleanrooms.

Responsibilities

• Own high-complexity installations and upgrades for Ion Beam Deposition systems.
• Diagnose multidisciplinary failures across vacuum, electronics, controls, and software.
• Lead corrective actions and feed fixes back to engineering and support teams.
• Act as on-site technical advisor to customer teams for system optimization.
• Serve as on-site escalation authority for assigned accounts.
• Influence serviceability and installation cycle time with cross-functional teams.
• Produce detailed service documentation to reduce repeat escalations.
