Veeco Instruments Inc. seeks a Field Service Engineer III to own the most complex challenges in the field, serving as the senior escalation point for Ion Beam Deposition systems.

You will protect customer trust and drive product and process improvements with high autonomy and visible impact. Responsibilities include leading high‑complexity installations, diagnosing multi‑discipline failures, and mentoring teams on best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of hands‑on field service or equipment support experience in semiconductor capital equipment.
• Advanced experience supporting complex vacuum‑based systems in cleanroom environments.
• Demonstrated ability to independently resolve escalated, non‑routine system failures.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and safely operate hand tools and equipment.
• Ability to stand, sit, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods in fab/cleanroom environments.

Responsibilities

• Own the highest‑complexity installations, upgrades, and field escalations for Ion Beam Deposition systems.
• Diagnose and resolve multidiscipline system failures spanning vacuum, motion, electronics, controls, and software.
• Lead corrective and preventive action efforts, ensuring durable fixes and knowledge transfer.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor to customer teams on system optimization and operation.
• Serve as on‑site escalation authority, prioritizing issues by impact.
• Influence serviceability and installation cycle time by collaborating with Engineering and Product Support.
• Produce clear, detailed service documentation to reduce repeat escalations.
