Job summary

Veeco Instruments Inc. in Sugar Land, TX, seeks a Field Service Engineer III to own the most complex installations and field escalations for Ion Beam Deposition systems, delivering technical ownership and high autonomy.

You will act as trusted advisor to customer teams, travel domestically and internationally, and contribute to engineering feedback while ensuring durable fixes and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 8+ years of handson field service or equipment support experience in semiconductor capital equipment.
• Experience with vacuum-based systems in cleanroom environments.
• Ability to independently resolve escalated, nonroutine system failures.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and use standard hand tools.
• Ability to work in customer fab and cleanroom environments.

Responsibilities

• Own the highest-complexity installations, upgrades, and escalations for Ion Beam Deposition systems.
• Diagnose and resolve multidisciplinary system failures spanning vacuum, motion, electronics, controls, and software.
• Lead corrective and preventive action efforts with durable, documented fixes.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor to customer engineering teams on system optimization, stability, and operation.
• Serve as onsite escalation authority, prioritizing issues based on impact.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Product Support to improve serviceability and cycle time.
• Produce clear service documentation to enable organizational learning.
