Job summary

Smart Tech Contracting, LLC is seeking a Lead Field Technician - Critical Infrastructure to oversee field execution on hyperscale data center projects, guiding crews and coordinating subcontractors to ensure work aligns with drawings, schedules, and safety standards.

This senior role requires 6–8 years in mission-critical environments, strong leadership, and the ability to translate plans into daily field action while communicating progress to the Site Superintendent.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6–8 years in field execution roles within mission-critical, hyperscale, or complex MEP construction environments.
• Demonstrated experience directing field crews and coordinating subcontractors.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day field execution for assigned scopes, zones, or workstreams.
• Coordinate daily activities across trades including electrical, mechanical, automation, controls, networking, and commissioning.
• Develop and maintain 2–3 week look-ahead schedules aligned with the GC master schedule.
• Track daily progress, manpower loading, and productivity within assigned scopes.
• Enforce QA/QC requirements and verify work complies with drawings, specifications, and approved plans.
• Identify constructability issues, installation deficiencies, and scope gaps; document and elevate with recommendations.
• Lead daily toolbox talks and support safety stand-downs; ensure compliance with safety policies.
• Provide clear daily updates to the Site Superintendent on progress, risks, and constraints.
