Job summary

Terracon in Chattanooga, TN seeks an experienced Materials Testing Technician to perform field and laboratory testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel. You will document results and coordinate with the Project Manager, overseeing equipment and safety on site.

Preferred certifications include NICET, ICC, AWS SCWI or ASNT Level II, and ACI concrete testing credentials. Valid driver's license and strong MS Office skills are a plus as you support multiple sites.

Qualifications

• ACI certifications for concrete testing and strength testing required or preferred.
• NICET certifications in construction materials testing and geotechnical areas favored.
• ICC certifications in reinforced concrete or structural-related areas preferred.
• AWS SCWI or ASNT Level II in nondestructive testing is desirable.
• Radiation safety certification for Nuclear Density Gauge operation recommended.

Responsibilities

• Perform field and laboratory testing, inspection, and observation of construction materials.
• Document findings clearly and communicate results to Project Manager and site personnel.
• Assist with scheduling, dispatch, and supervision of technicians on projects.
• Maintain calibration and operation of equipment and CMELMS data entry.
• Lead training of lower level technicians and supervise activities when needed.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards and quality requirements on all projects.

Education

NICET Level III certification (Construction Materials Testing) in 2+ categories

NICET Level III in Geotechnical (2+ categories)

ICC certification (2+ categories)

AWS SCWI or ASNT Level II (NDT) in relevant area

ACI certification: Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I

ACI certification: Concrete Strength Testing Technician

Radiation safety & Nuclear Density Gauge operation certification
