Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Senior Manager, Field Engineering to lead a broad team of technical customer advisors and help shape the strategy, roadmap, and operating model for a significant Field Engineering portfolio.

You will scale impact beyond your immediate team through leaders, cross-functional initiatives, reusable practices, and strong customer and partner relationships. This role may include responsibility for one or two managers and spans major segments or multi-country portfolios.

Qualifications

• Experience leading technical customer-facing teams in enterprise software/cloud/data/AI.
• Proven ability to hire bar-raising talent, develop leaders, manage performance, and structure teams effectively.
• Experience leading through other leaders or as a senior leader on a complex team.
• Strong strategic judgment and ability to connect execution to long-term goals.
• Track record of building repeatable operating mechanisms and playbooks.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop Field Engineering professionals across a broad portfolio.
• Set team strategy and roadmaps connecting customer needs to technical priorities and business outcomes.
• Influence priorities for the portfolio and help teams anticipate next 3–12 months.
• Partner with Sales and cross-functional leadership to shape technical-win strategy and resource plans.
• Build trusted relationships with senior customer stakeholders and use insights to improve account strategy.
• Establish repeatable inspection mechanisms across teams (portfolio reviews, health reviews, risk reviews).
• Coach leaders through complex customer, technical, and organizational situations.
• Create playbooks, tools, and enablement that scale beyond one team.
• Influence Product, Engineering, Support, Marketing, Partners on requirements and cross-functional priorities.
• Leverage AI and automation to increase impact across enablement and delivery.
