Job summary

Carl Zeiss SMT in the United States is seeking a Field Applications Engineer Level 4 to support pre- and post-sales activities for ZEISS industrial metrology systems. You will deliver technical demonstrations, training, and on-site support, while traveling across the USA and internationally as needed.

Ideal candidates will hold a 4-year engineering/CS/physics degree, strong engineering drawing interpretation, and experience with GD&T/SPC. ITAR requirements apply; citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics required.
• Equivalent work-related experience may be considered.
• Level 4 adds 8 years minimum experience in Field Applications Engineer Level 3.
• Able to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Understanding of 3D mathematics and programming in modern scientific languages.
• Excellent verbal communication, capable of presenting technical information to varied audiences.
• Self-starter and able to work independently.
• Proficient with Microsoft 365 and related software.
• Valid driver's license.
• U.S. citizenship required due to ITAR.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical consultation to field sales personnel and the Industrial Metrology dealer network.
• Facilitate flow and accuracy of technical information to the field sales force.
• Maintain focus on advanced applications and new ZEISS technology.
• Support introduction of new products into the North American market.
• Provide technical training programs to field sales personnel and dealers.
• Plan, prepare, and perform high-quality customer demonstrations, in-house or in the field.
• Provide technical after-sales support to ensure successful use of ZEISS systems.
• Provide applications expertise for project-related activities.
• Respond to customer quotations and analyze inspection requirements and costs.
• Estimate Gage R&R results.
• On-site implementation of quoted application items.
• Assist with IT-related issues, Windows OS knowledge, Networking, Database Management.
• Demonstrate SPC and GD&T concepts in practice.
