Job summary

DataOne Systems is seeking an experienced Fiber Optic Characterization Lead / Project Manager to oversee fiber testing projects from start to finish. This role leads field crews, manages test equipment and schedules, ensures accurate test results and documentation, and serves as the primary customer contact throughout the project.

You will coordinate testing activities with customer maintenance windows, verify results, deliver daily reports, and mentor technicians while adhering to safety

Qualifications

• 10+ years of telecommunications experience with fiber characterization.
• Proven proficiency as Fiber Characterization Technician (B-Side).
• Strong knowledge of fiber optic testing, troubleshooting, and test equipment.
• Experience leading crews and managing multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate fiber optic characterization and testing projects, including CD/PMD and long-shot testing.
• Manage assigned test equipment and ensure proper calibration.
• Direct, train, and monitor technicians to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency.
• Coordinate testing activities with customer maintenance windows and project schedules.
• Verify test results and ensure accurate, complete project documentation.
• Prepare and deliver daily reports and customer project updates.
• Perform QA and review final reports for accuracy.
• Serve as the primary customer contact for project status updates and technical support.
• Attend project planning and progress meetings as required.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide guidance to field technicians.
• Ensure compliance with company, customer, and telecommunications health and safety standards.
