Job summary

Planate Management Group seeks an experienced Construction Inspector to support the U.S. Coast Guard Yard in Baltimore, MD, performing independent inspection throughout design-build activity, verifying workmanship, materials, safety, and compliance with USCG requirements.

The role requires field surveillance, coordination with prime contractor and subcontractors, preparation of reports, and closeout documentation; candidates should have extensive federal project QA/QC experience, OSHA

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in construction inspection, quality control, or superintendent roles; or 5+ years with relevant engineering degree and credentials.
• Experience on federal construction projects and infrastructure with utilities and design-build.
• MD-specific QA/QC experience and knowledge of codes.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous, independent construction inspection to ensure ESCO and subcontractors meet specs and USCG requirements.
• Conduct full-time daily field surveillance during active construction and demolition.
• Verify workmanship, installation methods, and materials meet approved designs and standards.
• Inspect delivered equipment and materials against submittals.
• Observe specialized inspections (welds, electrical testing, boiler/pressure vessels).
• Document deficiencies and safety concerns; maintain logs and track corrective actions.
• Monitor compliance with Accident Prevention Plan and safety rules; obtain permits.
• Witness tests and commissioning; review testing reports for conformance.
• Maintain logs and weekly/monthly reports.
• Review as-built drawings, warranty databases, O&M manuals, spare parts lists, commissioning reports.
• Coordinate with prime contractor, subcontractors, USCG personnel, COR, safety officers, project managers.
• Prepare final inspection reports and provide recommendations to COR/KO.
