Job summary

Planate Management Group seeks an experienced Construction Inspector (CI) to support the USCG Yard in Baltimore, MD. The CI will perform independent inspections to ensure compliance with design documents, safety protocols, and USCG requirements throughout construction, commissioning, and closeout.

The role requires extensive field surveillance, documentation, and coordination with multiple stakeholders, including the prime contractor and COR.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years in construction inspection, quality control, or superintendent roles, or 5+ years with relevant engineering degree/PE/PMP/QA/QC.
• Federal construction project experience and similar infrastructure projects are required, including utilities, waterfront facilities, and design-build work.
• Extensive QA/QC experience in Maryland is essential; knowledge of local codes and multiple trades is needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent construction inspection to verify specs, design documents, safety protocols, and USCG requirements.
• Perform full-time field surveillance during active construction and demolition.
• Verify workmanship, installation methods, and materials against approved designs and standards.
• Inspect delivered equipment and materials against submittals and warranties.
• Document deficiencies, safety concerns, and corrective actions; maintain logs and reports.
• Coordinate with prime contractor, subcontractors, USCG personnel, COR, and project managers; prepare final inspection reports.
