Job summary

Planate Management Group (PMG) is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to support the U.S. Coast Guard Yard in Baltimore, MD, providing independent inspection services to verify workmanship, safety, and compliance with design, specs, and USCG requirements throughout construction, commissioning, and closeout.

This contingent role anticipates a contract from Oct 2026 to Oct 2028. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in construction inspection or 5+ years with a relevant engineering degree

Qualifications

• 10+ years in construction inspection, quality control, or superintendent roles, or 5+ years with a relevant engineering degree and credentials.
• Experience on federal construction projects and infrastructure projects similar in scope.
• Extensive QA/QC experience in Maryland and ability to manage multiple trades.
• Procore proficiency and knowledge of applicable codes and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent construction inspection to verify compliance with specs, design, and USCG requirements.
• Conduct full-time field surveillance during active construction and demolition activities.
• Inspect workmanship, installation methods, and materials against approved designs and standards.
• Observe specialized inspections (welds, electrical, boiler/pressure vessel) and document deficiencies.
• Maintain deficiency logs, safety logs, and weekly/monthly reports; coordinate closeout submissions.
