Job summary

Rivian seeks a Factory Design & Simulation Engineer to build discrete event models guiding factory design from concept to operation at the Plymouth, MI site. You will optimize throughput, bottlenecks, and material flow across Body, Paint, Drive Unit, Battery and General Assembly, ensuring scalable production.

You’ll develop digital twins, define DES standards, collaborate with Automation & Controls, and drive data‑driven improvements in a fast‑paced environment, reporting to Manufacturing

Qualifications

• Extensive experience applying discrete‑event simulation to improve processes.
• Strong modeling, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to communicate clearly across organizational levels.

Responsibilities

• Build DES models for manufacturing and logistics segments (Body, Paint, Drive Unit, Battery, General Assembly, Supply Chain).
• Manage multiple integrators and integrate deliverables into shop and factory models.
• Develop decision frameworks with quantifiable tradeoffs for factory processes.
• Optimize plant layouts via throughput analysis, bottleneck detection, and buffer sizing.
• Collaborate with Automation & Controls to incorporate real‑world data for validation.
