Job summary

Rivian is seeking an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to optimize DFMA and drive manufacturability for future products. You will collaborate with product design, virtual engineering, and equipment teams to dissect parts and influence design for efficient, safe, and sustainable production at scale.

The role focuses on building tools, validating processes, and leading manufacturing trials, with opportunities to lead value engineering and cross-functional initiatives across Rivian’s facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar technical field.
• 5+ years of DFMA/manufacturing engineering experience.
• Knowledge of manufacturing engineering principles (OEE, Cp/Cpk, GR&R, ergonomics, DOE, quality control, ROI).
• Ability to solve complex problems from first principles; bias for action.
• Ability to work independently and with cross functional teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with 2D/3D CAD environments and engineering tools.

Responsibilities

• Conduct DFMA studies at part, assembly and system level to provide design feedback.
• Lead static and kinematic studies to simulate assembly and equipment interactions.
• Drive content reduction, assembly simplification, and build-in-quality.
• Lead PFMEA, build sequence, and process layout development; host new product virtual builds with cross functional teams.
• Support prototype and design validation builds: design and deliver proto manufacturing tooling, prepare bill of process, lead manufacturing trials.
• Support manufacturing validations builds at Rivian’s manufacturing plants, working closely with factory integration and equipment teams.
• Actively engaged in value engineering, challenge assumptions and break the status quo.
