Job summary

Rivian is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Electric Machine Mechanical Design team. You will design test setups and tooling for electric motor components and drive units, and support production with detailed 3D models and drawings.

You will perform stack-up analyses and lead root-cause investigations. You will partner with suppliers, manage DFMA activities, and mentor junior engineers while traveling to vendors and Rivian plants as needed to ensure on-time,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mechanical design experience in a fast-paced environment.
• ASME Y14.5 GD&T knowledge and experience.
• Ability to perform structural hand calculations and FEA.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and fabrication of testing setups and tooling for motor components and drives.
• Use CATIA V6 for 3D part generation and 2D drawings.
• Conduct stack-up analyses for parts and mating interfaces.
• Lead root cause analyses and containment actions.
• Develop timelines for design, detailing, fabrication and test readiness.
• Own motor components for design, validation and manufacturing support.
• Collaborate with suppliers on DFx and resolve open issues.
• Travel to vendors and Rivian plants for issue resolution.
• Mentor team members on tooling and test-system development.
