Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Factory Design & Simulation Engineer to use discrete event simulation to guide factory design from concepts to operation. You will partner with industrial strategy and integration teams to define throughput architecture, buffers, and standards, ensuring production rates meet Rivian’s ambitious goals.

The role requires strong manufacturing engineering fundamentals, first-principles problem solving, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or Computer Science.
• 5+ years in industrial or manufacturing engineering applying discrete event simulation.
• Proficiency with discrete-event simulation tools and data-driven validation.

Responsibilities

• Build discrete event simulation models for manufacturing and logistics processes (Body, Paint, Drive Unit, Battery, GA).
• Coordinate with integrators and suppress bottlenecks in production ramp-up.
• Develop decision frameworks with quantifiable tradeoffs for factory performance.
• Optimize plant layouts by throughput, bottlenecks, buffers, and routing analysis.
• Collaborate with Automation & Controls to validate models with real data.
• Create and sustain digital twin models for manufacturing systems.
• Co-develop standards and a library of simulation assets.
