Job summary

SanMar in Ashland, VA seeks an experienced Facilities Technician to install, troubleshoot and repair production and facility equipment. This role covers preventive maintenance, vendor coordination, and daily operational support in a fast-paced DC warehouse environment.

You will repair material handling equipment, manage maintenance records, and assist with safety compliance. Candidates should have 4–6 years of maintenance experience and be adept with hand and power tools.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 4-6 years of facility maintenance experience required.
• Experience operating warehouse equipment preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize daily responsibilities.
• Knowledge of facilities maintenance principles and standards.
• May need Lift Operator Certification per OSHA guidelines.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Strong communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor and major repair of material handling equipment, including Autostore systems.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on conveyor and mechanical systems.
• Coordinate external contractors and vendors for building systems maintenance.
• Complete maintenance checklists and maintain records.
• Respond to maintenance issues promptly and professionally.
• May operate equipment to monitor and control systems; assist with lockout/tagout as needed.
• Perform custodial duties such as snow removal and general site upkeep.
• Obtain estimates and order parts as needed.
• Suggest improvements to maintenance programs.
