Job summary

SanMar is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician in Ashland, VA. The role involves installing, repairing and maintaining production and facility equipment, including Autostore systems, with a starting rate of $23.50 per hour.

Shifts run Monday through Friday, with a mix of early and late hours, and overtime as required. You will perform preventive maintenance, coordinate external contractors, document maintenance work and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 4-6 years of facility maintenance experience including use of hand and power tools.
• Experience operating warehouse equipment preferred.
• Excellent organization and ability to prioritize daily responsibilities.
• Knowledge of facilities maintenance and custodial principles, procedures and standards.
• May be required to complete and maintain SanMar's Lift Operator Certification in compliance with OSHA guidelines.
• Self-motivator; needs to take initiative.
• Able to work independently and within a team.
• Demonstrates ability to follow directions and adapt to changing priorities as needed.
• Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Responsible for checking out equipment and returning in same condition.
• Responsive to staff needs with professionalism and respect.
• Comprehend verbal and written instructions.

• Ability to perform basic math, read schematics and measurements.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor and major repair of all material handling equipment, including Autostore systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on conveyor systems and other mechanical equipment.
• Coordinate external contractors/vendors for installation, commissioning and maintenance.
• Complete daily, weekly, monthly checklists and maintain maintenance records.
• Comply with laws and regulatory requirements; maintain HAZMAT records.
• Respond professionally to inquiries and resolve facility operation issues.
• May operate a computer that controls and monitors equipment.
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests as needed.
• May perform outside custodial duties such as snow removal.
• Obtain estimates and order parts as needed.
• Make recommendations to improve Maintenance programs.
