Job summary

The position involves reviewing blueprints for safety deficiencies, conducting staff training, and providing expert consultation on regulations.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited technical institute or vocational school with a degree in fire protection engineering technology, fire science, engineering technology, construction management, or related acceptable field and experience equivalent to two years of responsible full-time fire prevention, safety inspection, or technical plans review work including at least one year of fire safety inspection work.
• Additional coursework at an accredited college or university in fire prevention or fire science may be substituted for the required non-specialized experience on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of one year.
• Qualifying full-time experience in one of the above areas may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Conducts comprehensive facility fire and safety inspections according to codes, policies, and procedures.
• Oversees and coordinates required inspections by the Fire Marshal or other authorities.
• Leads and conducts fire and safety training sessions for individuals and groups.
• Reviews and approves evaluations of construction and architectural blueprints for fire and safety protection deficiencies.
• Manages the coordination of fire and safety compliance inspections with staff, agencies, and other facilities.
• Leads efforts to build cooperation and trust among team members through active leadership and involvement in facility activities and training.
• Offers expert consultation to departments on fire and safety regulations, rules, procedures, and activities.
• Leads Emergency Management initiatives, ensuring staff are prepared to mitigate, prepare, respond, and recover from natural or manmade disasters.
