Job summary

McMaster-Carr is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Specialist for our Douglasville, GA facility. This on-site role focuses on maximizing uptime and reliability of material handling systems and industrial machinery through preventive maintenance and advanced troubleshooting of PLCs, sensors, and control systems.

You will diagnose faults, lead RCA investigations, document repairs in CMMS, and ensure safety policies including LOTO and machine guarding are followed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on experience maintaining material handling or industrial systems.
• Experience with PLC controls (Siemens/Allen-Bradley) or robotics.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and repair complex faults in conveyors, robotics, PLC control panels, VFDs through electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic pathways.
• Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and maintenance (thermography, vibration analysis) to proactively identify potential component failures.
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Lead or assist in RCA investigations for chronic equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Documentation & CMMS: Maintain detailed logs of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts usage in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Safety Compliance: Uphold all safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), robot safety standards, and machine guarding.
• General Facility Upkeep: Perform routine facility maintenance such as plumbing, lighting, and infrastructure to keep the facility safe and operational.
