Job summary

McMaster-Carr is hiring a Facilities Maintenance Specialist to maximize uptime of material handling systems and industrial machinery. You will combine preventive maintenance with advanced troubleshooting of PLCs, sensors, and control systems to minimize downtime and improve reliability.

This is a fully on-site role at our Douglasville facility. Schedule: 2:15PM to 11:00PM, Monday–Friday with occasional Saturday rotation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience maintaining material handling or industrial systems.
• Experience with PLC controls or robotics.
• Proficiency with PLC troubleshooting (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar).
• Strong knowledge of industrial sensors, motor controls, and actuators.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair conveyors, robotics, PLC control panels, and VFDs across electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance including thermography and vibration analysis to identify potential failures.
• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) investigations for chronic equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Uphold safety policies including LOTO, robot safety standards, and machine guarding.
• Handle general facility maintenance such as plumbing, lighting, and infrastructure when needed.

As a Facilities Maintenance Specialist, you’ll be responsible for maximizing the uptime, efficiency, and longevity of material handling systems, and industrial machinery. This role combines preventive maintenance with advanced troubleshooting of PLCs, sensors, and control systems to minimize downtime and enhance process reliability. You’ll act as a subject matter expert, analyzing failure modes and implementing improvements to prevent recurrence.

This is afullyonsite role at our facility located at 1901 Riverside Pkwy, Douglasville, GA.

Schedule: 2:15PM to 11:00PM Monday through Friday with a Saturday rotation 3-4 times a year.

• Troubleshooting&Repair: Diagnose and repair complex faults in conveyors, robotics, PLC control panels, VFDs through electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic pathways.

• Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience maintaining material handling or industrial systems, PLC controls, or robotics.

TechnicalSkills:

CashCompensation

Total cash compensation ranges from $123,000 - $142,000 annually, which includes annual cash profit sharing based on company profitability.
