Job summary

McMaster-Carr is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Specialist to maximize uptime of material handling systems and industrial machinery. This fully onsite role at 1901 Riverside Pkwy, Douglasville, GA involves diagnosing PF faults, proactive maintenance, RCA investigations, CMMS logging, safety compliance, and general facility upkeep.

Candidates should have 5+ years in industrial maintenance, PLC/robotics experience, CMMS familiarity, and the ability to work in an industrial environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on experience maintaining material handling or industrial systems.
• Expertise in PLC controls and robotics.
• Proficient in thermography and vibration analysis.
• Experience with CMMS and documenting maintenance activities.
• Strong problem-solving and RCA skills.
• Ability to work in an industrial environment and at heights.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair complex faults in conveyors, robotics, PLC panels, and VFDs across electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance including thermography and vibration analysis to identify potential failures.
• Lead or assist in RCA investigations for chronic equipment issues and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain detailed logs of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts usage in CMMS.
• Uphold safety policies including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), robot safety standards, and machine guarding.
• Perform routine facility maintenance such as plumbing, lighting, and infrastructure upkeep.

Job description

As a Facilities Maintenance Specialist, you’ll be responsible for maximizing the uptime, efficiency, and longevity of material handling systems, and industrial machinery. This role combines preventive maintenance with advanced troubleshooting of PLCs, sensors, and control systems to minimize downtime and enhance process reliability. You’ll act as a subject matter expert, analyzing failure modes and implementing improvements to prevent recurrence.

This is a fully onsite role at our facility located at 1901 Riverside Pkwy, Douglasville, GA.

Schedule: 2:15PM to 11:00PM Monday through Friday with a Saturday rotation 3-4 times a year.

What You’ll Do

• Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and repair complex faults in conveyors, robotics, PLC control panels, VFDs through electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic pathways.
• Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and maintenance (thermography, vibration analysis) to proactively identify potential component failures.
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Lead or assist in RCA investigations for chronic equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Documentation & CMMS: Maintain detailed logs of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts usage in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Safety Compliance: Uphold all safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), robot safety standards, and machine guarding.
• General Facility Upkeep: Perform routine facility maintenance needs including plumbing, lighting, and infrastructure needs to keep the facility safe, clean, and fully operational.

Who You Are

• Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience maintaining material handling or industrial systems, PLC controls, or robotics.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency with PLC troubleshooting (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar).
• Strong knowledge of industrial sensors, motor controls, and actuators.

Physical Ability: Able to work in an industrial environment, lift heavy components, and work at heights.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in high-volume, automated logistics, distribution and/or manufacturing.

Cash Compensation

Total cash compensation ranges from $123,000 - $142,000 annually, which includes annual cash profit sharing based on company profitability.
