Job summary

Commonwealth Edison (ComEd) in Illinois seeks a Facilities Manager to oversee day-to-day operation and security of occupied buildings and substations, supervise a team of trades staff and contractors, and manage budgets. You will develop life cycle plans, ensure maintenance, negotiate vendors, and drive safety and process improvements while coordinating with other departments.

This role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering and 4–7 years' experience, strong negotiation and leadership skills, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field; 4-7 years' experience, or 6-9 years' business experience without degree.
• Familiarity with facilities management planning, scheduling and maintenance of facility equipment.
• Effective performance management and supervisory experience.
• Ability to implement process improvements using technology and performance tools.
• Strong negotiation with contractors and service providers.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Proven ability to lead teams and drive business results in a corporate setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop life cycle cost analysis for facility planning and identify optimal locations.
• Plan and manage staff in maintenance of buildings and grounds; ensure utilities are operational.
• Develop and manage contingency plans for evacuation and emergency preparedness.
• Develop specifications, evaluate RFPs, select vendors, and manage contracts.
• Provide leadership and development for Facilities team; conduct performance reviews.
• Interface with occupants and other departments within ComEd and Exelon.
• Ensure safety, training, and effective communication within the team; drive continuous improvement.
• Manage O&M and Capital Budget for area of responsibility.
• Maintain performance indicators and coordinate with outsourced facilities management partners.
