Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Desoto, Iowa is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to support maintenance and facility operations on the 3rd shift. You will perform carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and other repairs and preventive maintenance on site.

You will work with air compressors, fire systems, cooling towers, and overhead doors, and be expected to read drawings, follow PM procedures, and participate in CI projects and training to develop your skills.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in facility maintenance.
• Working knowledge of lift equipment, forklifts, and material handling.
• Understanding of lockout/tagout procedures.
• PM procedures experience and logging work orders.
• Ability to read mechanical/electrical drawings and schematics.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; MS Office knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC and other repairs.
• Operate and maintain facility systems like air compressors and fire systems.
• Provide emergency/unplanned repairs of production equipment.
• Conduct regular preventive maintenance on facility and equipment.
• Support CI projects, space planning and capital projects.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
• Complete on-the-job training and technical self-study for career development.
