Job summary

IFG Companies in Hartford, CT is seeking an Executive Underwriter to develop and manage a profitable primary casualty book. This role builds relationships with wholesale producers, evaluates submissions, and quotes within guidelines while using rating tools.

The EU will mentor underwriters, monitor performance, travel to meet producers, and contribute to marketing and product offerings. The position is hybrid with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of commercial casualty underwriting experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in insurance or related field.
• CPCU or similar designation is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of underwriting guidelines and rating tools.

Responsibilities

• Meet with producers to source high-quality submissions.
• Price and structure submissions using rating tools and guidelines.
• Maintain communication with producers about product offerings.
• Monitor performance of new business and renewals.
• Coach and mentor junior underwriters and staff.
