Job summary

IFG Companies seeks a Senior Underwriter, Primary Casualty, to develop and manage a profitable book of primary casualty business. The role emphasizes building strong relationships with wholesale producers to drive quality submissions, apply IFG’s rating tools, and underwrite within authority.

The candidate will mentor others and coordinate with Corporate Underwriting as needed. The position requires 6+ years in commercial primary casualty underwriting, a bachelor’s degree, and a CPA or insurance

Qualifications

• Minimum 6+ years of commercial primary casualty underwriting experience.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. college/university in insurance, risk management, economics, actuarial science or related fields.
• CPCU or other relevant insurance-related designations are a plus.

Responsibilities

• New Business: meet producers, identify submissions for quoting, determine pricing and terms, maintain producer communications.
• Renewal Business: monitor in-force performance, prepare renewal quotes in advance, communicate renewal expectations to producers.
• General Underwriting: apply underwriting principles, meet production and profitability goals, stay informed on industry trends, mentor junior staff.
