Job summary

IFG Companies in Chicago seeks a Senior Underwriter, Primary Casualty, to develop and manage a profitable primary casualty book, building strong relationships with wholesale producers to generate quality submissions and favorable quotes.

You will evaluate submissions, price and structure coverage, use rating tools and adhere to guidelines, while mentoring junior underwriters and traveling to meet producers as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6+ years of commercial primary casualty underwriting experience.
• Bachelor's degree from a U.S. college/university in insurance, risk management, economics, actuarial science or related fields.
• CPCU or other relevant insurance-related designations are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a profitable primary casualty book with wholesale producers.
• Evaluate submissions, price and quote acceptable risks using rating tools and guidelines.
• Lead renewal quotes and monitor performance for in-force business.
• Collaborate with underwriting team and Compliance to ensure guidelines are followed.
• Travel to meet producers and mentor junior underwriters as needed.
