Job summary

The Cincinnati Specialty Underwriters Insurance Company has an immediate opening for an experienced excess and surplus lines underwriter in Maryland. The candidate is required to reside within this territory or in proximity to our Fairfield, OH Headquarters. The projected start date for this role is December 2026.

The pay range for this position is $75,000 - $140,000 annually. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or extensive relevant excess and surplus lines underwriting experience.
• 5+ years of experience in commercial lines P&C underwriting.
• ASLI or CPCU designations preferred.
• Carrier background preferred; training in Cincinnati, OH.

Responsibilities

• Solicit, underwrite and price new and renewal surplus lines commercial property and casualty business.
• Determine risk acceptability, pricing, coverage, terms and conditions.
• Develop and evaluate information and exposures for complex risks.
• Achieve production and loss ratio goals within the assigned territory.
• Work independently with a high level of authority and judgment.
• Determine need for and secure appropriate reinsurance on accounts.
• Mentor and train underwriters and assistants.
• Develop strong relationships with producers and reinsurers.
• Travel within the assigned territory (overnight stays possible).
