Job summary

The Cincinnati Specialty Underwriters Insurance Company in San Diego, California has an immediate opening for an experienced excess and surplus lines underwriter. The candidate must reside in this territory or near our Gilbert, AZ Headquarters.

The pay range is $75,000 - $154,000 annually, with eligible associates potentially receiving an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and personal performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or extensive excess and surplus lines underwriting experience.
• 5+ years of experience working with commercial lines property and casualty products.
• ASLI or CPCU designations preferred.
• Candidates with a carrier background will be given preference; complete training is provided in Cincinnati, OH.

Responsibilities

• Solicit, underwrite and price new and renewal surplus lines P&C business with producers and an underwriting assistant.
• Determine risk acceptability, pricing, coverage, terms and conditions.
• Develop, analyze and evaluate information and exposures for complex risks.
• Achieve production and loss ratio goals within the regional territory.
• Travel within the assigned territory, possibly including overnight stays.
• Mentor and train underwriters and underwriting assistants.
• Develop successful relationships with producers and reinsurers.
• Research new products and coverage forms.
