Job summary

Layton Construction seeks an Associate Estimator to prepare estimates for diverse projects and support the estimating team. You will help ensure cost accuracy and assist managers across estimating tasks, design-build and conceptual estimates, and bid submissions.

You will read contract documents, perform quantity take-offs, price information, and coordinate with subs for pricing details while contributing to outline schedules and bid proposals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• Preferred working knowledge of Destini Estimator software, BlueBeam, Assemble, and other latest software and technology.
• Working knowledge of On Screen Take-off
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Work, Excel, PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

• Champions “The Layton Way” by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
• Ensures that “Constructing with Integrity” is delivered by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
• Assists other in preparing estimates for potential projects, using hard-bid, design-build and conceptual estimating.
• Reads and understands contract documents (plans, specifications & addenda).
• Performs quantity take-offs, organizes and prices information.
• Solicits bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Communicates with subs and suppliers to clarify pricing information.
• Prepares estimate formats in such areas as general conditions, general bidding, quantity takeoffs and bid analysis.
• Assists with the preparation of bid proposal for submittal.
• Prepares outline schedules for proposed projects.
• Assists staff members with various special projects related to estimating.
