Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Senior Estimator in Irvine, CA to manage and prepare detailed project estimates. You will collaborate with architects and owners, guide preconstruction, and drive accurate bids while integrating value engineering and lifecycle cost options.

The role requires leadership, integrity, and strong client-facing skills. You will develop takeoffs, analyze pricing, and prepare bid proposals with the team, ensuring schedules and cost data support project goals across

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or construction or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years estimating commercial construction including hard-bid, design-build, and conceptual.
• Knowledge of construction systems including mechanical and electrical.
• Experience with all stages of design for estimates.
• Familiarity with Target Value Design and bid strategies.
• Proficiency with modern estimating software and tools.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates and related data for potential projects.
• Read and improve contract documents; offer value engineering options.
• Perform quantity take-offs, pricing, and data analysis.
• Coordinate preconstruction with architects and owners.
• Solicit bids from subcontractors and suppliers; manage pricing clarity.
• Develop bid proposals and attend owner meetings during estimates.
• Create detailed schedules for proposed projects and lead special initiatives.
