Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Senior Estimator to manage and assist in compiling estimates for diverse projects, ensuring cost accuracy and professional interaction with Owners. The role reports to the SBU Executive or Chief Estimator as directed.

The candidate will prepare estimates, read contract documents, perform quantity take-offs, and liaise with architects, owners, and subs to ensure competitive pricing and successful bids.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in estimating commercial construction (hard-bid, design-build, conceptual).
• Knowledge of mechanical/electrical systems for cost estimates.
• Experience with design stages: conceptual to construction documents.
• Proficient with estimating software (Destini, BlueBeam, Assemble) and BIM tools.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates and supplementary information for potential projects.
• Read and improve contract documents; offer value engineering options.
• Perform quantity take-offs and price analysis.
• Coordinate with architects, owners, subs, and suppliers.
• Prepare bid Proposals and attend Owner meetings during estimates.
