Senior Estimator — In-Office Preconstruction Leader

Job summary

Hoffman-Construction in Seattle, WA seeks a Senior Estimator to lead project cost estimates and support the estimating team. You will analyze design documents, prepare estimates through all design stages, and coordinate with subcontractors to validate budgets.

This in-office role emphasizes profitability and collaboration across commercial projects. Required: strong estimating background, design software proficiency (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks), and ability to mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent degree and/or equivalent field work experience required.
• Education and/or experience background in materials and methods of construction.
• A minimum of five (10) years’ construction estimating experience preferred.
• Specific experience in commercial, healthcare, industrial, and/or public use types of projects preferred.
• LEED Accredited Professional, or the ability to become accredited within eighteen (18) months preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates at all levels of design completion.
• Help teach estimators with less experience.
• Be a proactive team member within the overall project teams, helping our clients and design partners be successful.
• Develop and prepare a Preconstruction Status Report including narrative, executive cost reports, project cost indicators, cash flow projections, schedule, and logistic plans.
• Work with subcontractors and equipment vendors to validate budgets.
• Interpret construction drawings, technical manuals and quantifying materials required for construction.
• On screen take-off of material quantities.
• Write and publish estimate clarifications.
• Summarize quantities of materials in an orderly fashion.
