Job summary

Hoffman Construction Co of America in Tempe, AZ is seeking a Senior Estimator to join the Estimating department. The role analyzes project designs and documents to determine needs, provides solutions to increase profitability, and prepares project cost estimates.

This position is fully in-office and reports to the Estimating Director. The Senior Estimator will collaborate with the estimating team and PM group, mentor junior staff, and develop preconstruction status reports with cost indicators

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent degree and/or equivalent field work experience required.
• Education and/or experience background in materials and methods of construction.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates at all levels of design completion.
• Help teach estimators with less experience.
• Be a proactive team member within the overall project teams, helping our clients and design partners be successful.
• Develop and prepare a Preconstruction Status Report including narrative, executive cost reports, project cost indicators, cash flow projections, schedule, and logistic plans.
• Work with subcontractors and equipment vendors to validate budgets.
• Interpret construction drawings, technical manuals and quantifying materials required for construction.
• On screen take-off of material quantities.
• Write and publish estimate clarifications.
• Summarize quantities of materials in an orderly fashion.
