Job summary

Protek-IT in Chicago seeks a senior escalation engineer to own the final internal escalation point for the service desk and perform Level 2/3 tasks on client infrastructure projects.

You will lead security posture work, map policies to technical controls, and drive internal improvements while collaborating with the owner, account manager, and project manager. Onsite travel to Chicagoland is expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in an MSP or multi-client IT environment including 2+ years as escalation engineer.
• Deep Windows Server, Active Directory, and Hypervisor administration/troubleshooting.
• Strong Microsoft 365 / Entra ID / Intune skills with tenant migrations and security baselines.

Responsibilities

• Serve as final internal escalation point for the service desk; resolve or lead resolutions of complex incidents.
• Execute Level 2/3 technical tasks on client infrastructure projects (design, staging, cutover, documentation).
• Perform onsite work when remote is not possible, including occasional evening cutovers.
• Perform onsite assessments for new prospects; collaborate with sales to turn findings into proposals.
• Scope and spec solutions from client requests; provide clear BOM and labor estimates.
• Review security policies against CIS Controls and identify gaps.
• Complete security assessments and cyber-insurance questionnaires with the account manager.
• Document client environments; contribute to build standards and internal tooling.
