Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist to lead biological field surveys, NEPA compliance, and environmental permitting, with growth toward project management and team leadership within 2 years. The role spans AR, OK, LA, MO, and the Southeast, and offers hybrid or remote work depending on distance to a Stantec office.

You will coordinate with agencies, oversee field teams, and contribute to business development while mentoring staff and ensuring high-quality deliverables.

Qualifications

• BS in Natural Resources, Planning, Environmental Science, Biology, or related field from an accredited university; Master’s degree preferred.
• 5–10 years of experience in environmental planning, assessment, and permitting.
• Willingness to travel and valid driver’s license.
• Strong understanding of NEPA requirements and related environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead field teams during wetland delineation and habitat surveys.
• Oversee NEPA planning, budgeting, invoicing, scheduling, and personnel allocation.
• Coordinate regulatory and agency interactions.
• Manage and direct ecological studies and resource surveys.
• Prepare NEPA documentation including EISs, EAs, and CEs.
• Provide QA/QC for final products and regulatory compliance.
• Support client relationships and business development.
• Mentor developing staff and promote technical performance.
