Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist to lead biological field surveys, NEPA planning, and environmental permitting efforts across AR, OK, LA, MO, and the Southeast. The role includes mentoring staff and developing opportunities, with hybrid or remote work depending on distance to a Stantec office.

The successful candidate will manage projects, coordinate with agencies, and ensure QA/QC across deliverables, while advancing client relationships and participating in HSSE policies.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Natural Resources, Planning, Environmental Science, Biology, or related field required; M.S. preferred.
• Minimum 5–10 years of experience in environmental planning, assessment, and permitting.
• Willingness to travel and engage with regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

• Lead NEPA planning processes and oversee project components (client contact, budget, invoicing, schedule).
• Manage field teams during wetlands delineation and species surveys.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies and local governments.
• Oversee technical studies and ecological resource teams.
• Prepare NEPA documentation (EIS/EA/CE) and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Provide QA/QC for final products and maintain client relationships.
• Mentor staff and develop business opportunities.
• Represent the team in professional settings and advance client networks.
• Adhere to HSSE policies and guidelines in all work.
• Provide technical direction to developing staff.
