Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Environmental Scientist/Environmental Risk Assessor to support Human Health and Ecological projects within the Environmental Services Group. You will assist with regulatory compliance efforts for federal, state, and local environmental projects in our portfolio.

The role involves developing and applying risk assessment methods, collaborating with scientists and engineers, and mentoring junior staff while supporting client meetings and proposals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline with professional scientist registration/certification OR Master's degree in Science or related discipline.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Support site investigations and analysis for human health risk assessments (HHRAs) and ecological risk assessments (ERAs).
• Assist development of data quality objectives (DQOs), Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs), and sampling and analysis plans (SAPs).
• Contribute to planning for conceptual site exposure models (CSEMs) and various HHRAs/BERAs.
• Collaborate with scientists, geologists, engineers, and toxicologists to implement approved project approaches.
• Provide technical evaluation of project documents on oversight projects and support client meetings.
• Mentor junior staff and provide training within the discipline.
• Support proposals with sales staff in response to RFPs.
• Contribute to technical knowledge with white papers on emerging issues.
• Attend conferences and symposia to boost visibility of firm products and services.
