Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Environmental Scientist/Environmental Risk Assessor to support Human Health and Ecological projects within the Environmental Services Group. You will assist with regulatory compliance efforts for federal, state, and local environmental projects in CDM Smith’s portfolio.

Responsibilities include collaboration with scientists and engineers, development of risk assessments, and guidance to junior staff. Travel may be required as part of project needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in science or related field; professional registration/certification preferred.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
• Equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities

• Supports site investigations and analysis for human health and ecological risk assessments (HHRAs and ERAs).
• Develops data quality objectives (DQOs), QA/QC plans (QAPPs) and sampling and analysis plans (SAPs).
• Prepares conceptual site exposure models (CSEMs) and HHRAs/SLERAs/BERAs for basic to high complexity.
• Collaborates with scientists, geologists, engineers, and toxicologists on project approaches.
• Provides technical evaluation of documents and supports client meetings.
• Mentors junior staff and supports growth within the discipline.
• Supports proposals and client requests for proposals (RFPs).
• Contributes to technical knowledge via white papers on emerging environmental issues.
• Attends conferences to promote the firm’s products and services.
• Performs other duties as required.
