Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Charlotte, NC, seeks an experienced environmental engineer to review, evaluate, and implement regulatory requirements across fossil fuel, nuclear, wind, and solar projects. You will work with multi-disciplinary teams to develop mitigation plans, conduct impact studies, and prepare permit applications.

Ideal candidates hold a BS in Environmental Engineering or related field, with 5+ years in environmental compliance and permitting.

Qualifications

• BS in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field; MS preferred.
• Five or more years of experience in environmental compliance, impact assessment, and/or permitting for complex industrial projects.
• Familiarity with NEPA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, etc.
• Experience with environmental impact assessments, site assessments, permit applications, and regulatory reporting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to coordinate with teams and regulators.

Responsibilities

• Review and implement federal, state, and local environmental requirements for diverse industrial projects.
• Prepare site-specific environmental impact studies and permit matrices.
• Collaborate with engineers to ensure designs meet environmental criteria.
• Prepare complex reports and regulatory reviews; contribute to peer-learning within the firm.
• Travel to client offices and project sites as needed.
