Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Charlotte, NC is seeking an Environmental and Permitting professional to join our team on a hybrid schedule, with in-office work 3 days per week. You will review federal, state, and local environmental regulatory requirements for electric power, nuclear power, and industrial projects.

Responsibilities include preparing permit applications, site-specific impact studies, and coordinating with project engineers and regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

• BS in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field; MS preferred.
• Five+ years of experience in environmental compliance, impact assessment, and/or permitting for complex industrial projects.
• Familiarity with NEPA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, and related environmental laws.
• Experience with environmental impact assessments, Phase 1/2 ESAs, Title V applications, and NPDES permitting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with project teams, clients, and regulators.
• Experience coordinating inputs across internal teams and regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

• Review and implement federal, state, and local regulatory requirements for diverse projects.
• Prepare site-specific environmental impact studies for various energy and industrial facilities.
• Develop strategies to implement cost-effective mitigation compliance plans.
• Prepare permit matrices and permit applications; interface with permitting agencies.
• Support complex technical reports, site selection studies, and regulatory reviews.
• Travel to client offices and project sites; some international travel may be required.
