Job summary

Apex Companies is seeking a dynamic Environmental Principal to lead our environmental practice from California. You will act as a senior technical advisor, shaping client solutions, mentoring staff, and expanding relationships with regional and national clients.

As a leader, you will drive technical excellence across compliance, site investigations, and permitting while growing the environmental services team. This hybrid role is based in Southern California locations, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of environmental consulting or industry experience with progressive responsibility and leadership.
• BS in Geology or Engineering, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or related field; Master's preferred.
• Licensure as Professional Geologist or Engineer.
• Established client relationships and an active network within the region or with national clients.
• Strong technical background in Environmental Compliance, Site Investigation/Remediation, Site Development Permitting, EHS, or Due Diligence.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with senior-level clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
• Deep understanding of the region’s regulatory and business environment.
• Ability to mentor and train staff.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Strong safety awareness and a good record of safe work practices.
• 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and expand long-term client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
• Provide SME, lead QA/QC efforts, and mentor project teams to promote technical excellence and high performance.
• Manage project performance with a focus on quality, innovation, and client satisfaction.
• Travel to client locations as needed for meetings and project development.
