Job summary

Apex Companies is seeking an Environmental Principal to lead and grow our environmental practice in the Los Angeles metropolitan market. The role emphasizes technical leadership, client relationship management, and high-performance project delivery, with remote/hybrid or in-office work options within the LA area.

The ideal candidate has 10-15+ years in environmental consulting, a relevant BS (Master's preferred), and a Professional Geologist/Engineer licensure.

Qualifications

• 10-15+ years of environmental consulting or industry experience with progressive responsibility and leadership.
• BS in Geology or Engineering, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or other related field. Master's degree is preferred.
• Licensure as Professional Geologist or Engineer.
• Established client relationships and an active network within the region or with national clients.
• Strong technical background in the core disciplines: Environmental Compliance, Site Investigation/Remediation, Site Development Permitting, EHS, or Due Diligence.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills for engaging with senior-level clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
• Deep understanding of your region’s regulatory and business environment.
• Ability to mentor and train staff.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Strong safety awareness and a good record and understanding of safe work practices.
• 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and expand long-term client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
• Provide subject matter expertise (SME), lead QA/QC efforts, and mentor project teams to promote technical excellence and high performance.
• Manage project performance with a focus on quality, innovation, and client satisfaction.
• Travel to client locations as needed for meetings and project development.
