Job summary

Apex Companies, LLC seeks an Environmental Principal to lead our California environmental practice and act as a senior technical advisor. You will mentor staff, expand client relationships, and drive high-value solutions for complex environmental challenges, advancing the firm's environmental services.

This hybrid role can be based in Thousand Oaks, Pleasant Hill, or Signal Hill, California, and emphasizes technical leadership, client development, and team growth across environmental disciplines.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in environmental consulting or equivalent with leadership.
• BS in Geology, Engineering, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or related field; Master’s preferred.
• Licensed as Professional Geologist or Engineer.
• Established regional or national client relationships.
• Strong background in Environmental Compliance, Site Investigation/Remediation, Permitting, EHS, or Due Diligence.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Deep knowledge of regional regulatory and business environment.
• Ability to mentor and train staff; strong technical writing.
• Safety-conscious with a 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.

Responsibilities

• Mentor staff and expand client relationships to grow the practice.
• Lead QA/QC efforts and promote technical excellence across projects.
• Manage project performance with focus on quality, innovation, and client satisfaction.
• Travel to client locations for meetings and project development.
