Job summary

Liberty Mutual's Environmental Complex Claims Team in Suwanee, GA seeks a Senior Technical Claims Specialist II to own high-exposure environmental and commercial casualty files from start to finish, making coverage decisions, guiding litigation, and negotiating settlements.

You will analyze complex policy language, coordinate with defense and coverage counsel, and mentor junior staff while collaborating with underwriting and reinsurance teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years handling complex commercial casualty or environmental liability claims.
• Deep knowledge of coverage analysis and environmental liability.
• Proven negotiation record on high-exposure claims.
• Experience directing defense and coverage counsel.
• Strong communication skills for senior leadership.
• CPCU, AIC, ARM, or JD a plus; adjuster licensing as required.

Responsibilities

• Manage high-severity environmental and commercial casualty claims end to end, including coverage determination, liability analysis, reserving, negotiation, and payment.
• Analyze policy language, exclusions, and environmental liability provisions to take well-supported positions on complex, often novel coverage issues.
• Build resolution strategies, including discovery plans, reserve recommendations, and settlement approach.
• Assemble and direct the right team for each matter, including defense and coverage counsel, environmental consultants, Home Office Legal, and Home Office Claims. Manage outside counsel performance and billing.
• Partner with Underwriting, Reinsurance, and other business units.
• Mentor claims staff and advise Claims Management on legislative, court, and market developments affecting claims practices.
• Safeguard the integrity of claim payments and the confidentiality of claim files.
