Job summary

BetterUp is seeking a Staff Solutions Engineer to architect and drive the most strategic enterprise engagements, owning the full pre‑sales cycle from discovery through handoff. You will build ROI narratives and work with CIO/CISO/VP Engineering buyers, shaping platform adoption beyond HR use cases.

You will develop reusable SE playbooks, lead an AI/automation program, and mentor junior SEs while collaborating with Product and Engineering leadership to guide GTM strategy.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in Solutions Engineering or related field.
• Direct relationships with CIO/CISO/VP Engineering buyers.
• Deep fluency across HRIS, LMS, SSO and API integrations.
• Security, data residency, and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR).
• Ability to build ROI narratives for CFO/COO audiences.
• Experience building SE infrastructure—playbooks, blueprint libraries, integration catalogs.
• Proficiency using AI tools to amplify SE leverage across demos and POCs.
• Mentoring and developing junior SEs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical architect on BetterUp's largest opportunities—Key Accounts, Strategic Enterprise, Government deals, owning the full pre-sales cycle from discovery through handoff.
• Own peer-level relationships with CIO, CISO, and VP Engineering buyers.
• Build the business case in CFO and COO terms and position BetterUp's platform outside HR language.
• Anticipate integration, security, and platform feasibility challenges and provide structured recommendations.
• Define and maintain reusable SE assets—industry blueprints, demo archetypes, integration catalogs.
• Lead the SE function's AI and automation strategy and embed successful practices.
• Coach SEs on navigating complex deals and non-HR buyer relationships.
• Act as senior IC technical voice in GTM planning, SE function design, and roadmap discussions with Product/Engineering.
