Job summary

OpenAI in San Francisco is seeking a Messaging Lead to shape how businesses understand OpenAI and the value of our portfolio. You will develop a clear enterprise narrative, connect product stories to it, and help explain how AI changes how people and organizations work.

You’ll work with senior leaders to make positioning decisions and turn them into work that customers, executives, and the field can use. This is a senior IC role with potential to build a team as the function grows.

Qualifications

• 14+ years of experience in B2B product marketing, positioning, or messaging for enterprise audiences.
• Proven track record shaping enterprise narratives and translating tech portfolios into clear stories.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills with demonstrable work and rationale.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the enterprise narrative and messages linking products to customer outcomes.
• Partner with product and industry marketers to ensure portfolio clarity and differentiation.
• Translate complex capabilities into precise, compelling stories with Product and Research.
• Develop core enterprise pitches, executive narratives, and major launch messages.
• Incorporate customer insight, competitive context, and proof into stories with GTM and Customer Marketing.
• Help Marketing, Communications, and Enablement apply and iterate the narrative.
• Coach partners on messaging and growth of the function.
